Hi,
I'm rebuilding a 2004 TD4 with a badly fitted Engine and GETRAG Box - badly fitted because the young lad's didn't know what they were doing.. (my intro post explains all)
Anyway.. bits and pieces are missing, Brackets missed off, parts broken, wires cut, hoses cut... you get the picture.
so.
I'm asking if someone has pulled a TD4 engine recently, who can take some nice photos of the lump and ancilliaries, hoping to show:-
Heat shields and fastenings
Turbo
Basically, a series of 360' pictures would be fantastic.
If I had a complete engine to remove; i would be in a much better state than i am now!
Many Thanks,
Wayne

Any chance of a photo or a couple of the turbo side of the engine please?
And yes... I may require loads of stuff based on the photos.
Ironically. I still have the old engine sat on the floor. The crank shaft bearings gave up and started to produce end float.. screwed up the clutch initially. So dad had another clutch fitted.. and within the first half mile the clutch was stripped again...
Cheers.
Wayne.

Hi Digby.... let me explain...
The car was my dad's. . The crank went.. my non mechanically minded nephews sourced another unit and swapped the engine, leaving the old one outside dad's back door.... they said they couldn't get it started and it got left on dad's front lawn for three years.. dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in june and asked me if I would get it running. (Being an ex mechanic and auto electrician).. I got the car with the new lump recovered to my house (45mins away) and found that they didn't do the job properly.. bits missing etc. So I'm rebuilding something I didn't strip down... pipes lose / cut. Wiring screwed. Brackets left in the boot of the car. Heat Shields in the boot. Etc... so.. I need a photo to help me realise what I am up against with the back of the engine... i would love to take the rocker/air box off, but the injectors won't shift.. so I'm doing most of the work on my back using "feel or touch" alone and the RAVE CD.
The reference regarding the crank was purely based on the old engine which has a good head...
(Sorry... story posted on my intro post)
Cheers.

At least i have repaired the wiring loom so it turns over now though... - just got to connect the gear linkage (no idea where to route the rods) fasten the prop mountings up. and that's only the parts I can see!

Ok - understood

Sounds like a nice puzzle to fix

I have a 2003 Td4 - if you need specifics I can maybe help although taking photos behind the engine isn't easy

lol... nice puzzle indeed.
I got it fired up today, I think I had everything sorted.. but I ended up posting earlier on today about having NO acceleration.
just stripped the fuel filter off from under the OSR wheel... got to replace the filter, possibly the pump... might even look at the fuel pressure switch too...
got a water leak from somewhere though..... I think it may be the heater hose (foil covered) :(

If I get time tomorrow morning I'll try get some pictures of my TD4 engine in Situ for ya!
