**SOLVED ** D2 TD5 won’t rev after cold start

One of my D2’s, a 2003 15P manual, has a strange fault that it won’t rev for a few seconds after starting. If I didn’t have a brand new VDO MAF sensor fitted I’d have thought it was that as I thought this problem was always the MAF. Can anything else cause this? The vehicle drives absolutely fine
 
Then the delay is not caused by that, check all the readings cos if one sensor is reading under the limit it takes few seconds for the ECU o go to default hence that delay

will do, thank you. A sticking FPR has been suggested, not something I’ve heard of before though?
 
But what's the exact symptom, the throttle has no effect whatsoever few seconds after each start? cold or warm? describe with details
 
Next time run a purge on it before you start it and if the symptom is gone after that i'd say that the copper washers are on the way out... provided all the sensor readings are OK
 
Then those are ruled out too(i've seen all kind of strange things caused by them)... watch accel ways 1 and 2 in inputs fuelling from cold start while you depress the pedal to see if the signal gets to the ECU or not... if the TPS sends the signal but no effect on revs then it migh be some fuelling issue
 
Thinking twice about "no throttle response for 2-4 seconds after starting" ..... why would you push the throttle so soon after start-up when it's supposed to idle 15 seconds without touching the throttle though ?

it’s something I noticed one day when in a hurry, and since then I’ve tried to see if it does it or not.
 
Little update, new FPR made no difference at all. However if I prime the fuel system before starting the problem is a lot worse! Could this be caused by a leaky injector?

Possible! Or something is creating air whilst the pump is running
 
I haven't changed the injectors yet as it's been suggested that it could be valve stem seals... is this a common thing on TD5's ? It's not something I have ever heard of on TD5, and vehicle has only 118k miles on it. One thing I am certain of is it's not air in the system. Although the injector balances at idle are good could a leaky injector cause this?
