Well after much soul searching I advertised my Rangie last saturday on the www here in France. Yeah s`pose that`s everywhere really, but on a French based site. The prices of cars here will shockyou Brits!
Anyway after replacing almos everything, or so it seems I`d fallen out of love with the Rangie , and felt any litle new problem woukd just finish me off,so.
Any-way had about 10 e-mails in 4 days. 2 offering swops, but I`ve already got a Disco, (yeah I know but it`s a different st of pproblems!), so no swop. reply from someone with a brother in Madagasar who really wants it etc...NO. The rest seemed serious.
First viewing weds afternoon. On test drive got pretty near stuck on edge of ploughed field, but, he got it out while I was walking back for Disco. So all ok. Anyway he was happy so shook hands on a deal.
French law says, basically all vehicles sold must have test cert(C.T.) less than 6 months old. (test valid for 2 yrs here). Mine was 9months so we went together to test centre thurs morn (lucky with appointment). Passed with advisories. I`ve ordered ex back box and front CV gaiters. Got my cheque, we did papers for ownership transfer, he got new reg docs and plates, and insurance, and dropped me home. Less than 22 hours start to finish
I can guess what some of you are thinking, but paid cheque into bank 15-00 hrs yesterday, on line before 08-00 this morning and it`s in my account.
France doesn`t always work this smoothly, but it seems the gods were smiling on me this time.
I`ll be putting some spares inc 6 alloys with 245/75 16 ebay sometime and will put a link thro to spares on this site, but they`re in France at moment although could get `em UK later on.

Mine is.. was... is.. but not mine... LHD. Originally Belgian reg, I bought it in UK. With UK reg ran it here for few months before getting French C.T. reg & assurance. Had it for 5/6 years. Letters of conformity were about 120euro from LandRover Paris. Easier registering that than my Triumph!
As an aside I`ve a mate (honest I have) with a grey import Shogun. Mitsubishi are refusing to supply letter of conformity as it`s over 10yrs old. He ain`t happy!
Regards prices, have you seen LeBonCoin ? Much bigger here than e-bay.fr I think. Some prices are obviously people flying a kite, but as you say all LHD Fr Carte Gris are never cheap.

It's illegal to write a cheque in France knowing that it will bounce, and unlike the UK where the recipient gets bugger all if it does, in France they enforce it with prison!! So, its much safer to accept a cheque in France than it is over here - how it should be, really!

Post 99MY no need for the certificate of conformity from LR. There is a little plate under the bonnet on the slam plate above the the LH headlight with an e* number on it. Give that to the D.I.R.E. and they produce the bit of paper for the prefecture.
Mitsubishi also refused to supply me with a certificate of conformity on a 7 year old Shogun, claimed it was an "unoficial import". Swore I'd never buy anything from Mitsubishi again.
Took me a long time to register my MR2 here, it was never homologated in Fance. I'm told it was because the name MR2 pronounced in French sounds like merde, the word for **** I had to get a special derrogation from the ministry of transport in Paris. I was told it was only the third one ever registered in France. The rules have changed, it's a lot easier now.

Didn't they call it the "Coupe MR" in France or something, to avoid the 'merde' issue?!

The MK1 was never sold in France, the Mk2 was, but with the name removed, as was the MK3. Not sure what the MK2/3 ones were actually called on the docs but the ones I have seen are without a name other than Toyota on the bodywork.

Sorry if I missed it but what does a LHD P38 go for in France if you don't mind me asking. I ask because there is an LHD L322 going cheap on Autotrader at the mo. It could be a crock of **** but being semi-retired I'm always looking for a project to pass some time and any project that might include a profit is always welcome:D It was originally registered in Spain so don't know if that makes any difference.

Check out "leboncoin.fr" site for an idea. 2006 R-R Sport diesel auto 152k km 27,000euros.(from trader). But beware accidentally becoming a trader: lots of obligations regarding garantees taxes, import duties etc. Registering for private use then selling after coupla years different than buying/selling as a trade. Some garages buy cars ex-germany and reg `em as french. Cheaper to buy privately there, but when gge puts taxes on the price goes up. My P38 went just under 5,000 euros. Manual, diesel, 210k km. EAS in good nick, receipts for re-con FIP from BMW garage, recent visc.coupling, and as I said 2yrs test, and I`m replacing the ex back box.(middle one done last year). Diesels are much more popular here. Pity not an easy job to swop steering wheel over!

Mine (99MY on a T reg) sold locally on ebay just before Xmas for £4300 + £300 for some bits and pieces for it to the same buyer = £4600. But then it was in exceptional condition with lots of extras and a full service history. Petrol 4.6. I would have liked more as some dealers seem to move real rubbish for £6K or so, but the buyer was a really nice guy who was really taken with the Rangie so I'm glad she went to a decent new home!!

I've also got some extras which I'll advertise as soon as I can - most notably the OEM, rare-as-hen's-teeth P38 Winch Mount (brand new ) and a Warn 9000 winch which is the very winch Land Rover made the mount for.........I'll let everyone know when these are listed in due course.

Having seen piccies of Rangiegal`s Rangie I`m sure mine wasn`t as nice. More miles, older, etc., but LHD French plates ,so... Anyway tidy enough, but I`m not exactly an independent witness am I? First try, but there may be a piccie of mine in front of my gateway.

I reckon that was cheap for France. I wanted a post 99MY diesel with leather interior. The cheapest I found in France was posted at €9000 with starship kilometers, an offer of €6K was refused. My late 2000 DHSE from the UK had 87K miles and I paid £4850.:D:D:D

No. I live in one of those nice hospitals, where all the staff wear white and talk really nicely and all the other inmates.... sorry... guests... smile a lot. Lots of landy owners end up here...
