Ive got a 1997 P reg 2.5 tgi which gets used for logging with a trailer on the back cant get enough logs in the back with all the saws.taking the kids to school etc etc just about everything realy.

And the first reply that I read pretty much sums up how I use mine as well.

These days the Disco is back to being an everyday workhorse.

So, that will be a minimum of 500 miles a week on the motorways, client / site visits, green laning, wood collecting, Pay & Play days, tip runs, (with the rear seats removed it's a small van).

It only used to get the top side and the interior washed / cleaned when it rained, but I don't like my customers seeing my car being loppy as I feel that it gives them the impression that the quality of my work is to the same standed. So these days it gets fully valeted at least once a fortnight.

The lack of any carpets means that it can be hosed out with ease though.

Once work starts to pick up and the mileage creeps closer to 1000 miles per week, then it will go back to being a 2nd / 3rd use car again.

mine is also everything.. pre-school run, commuting, towing the caravan, lugging stuff about, driving about myself in it, some laning.. not brave enough to off road cos I would be totally lost without it..

gets cleaned outside when the neighbours look at it funny and inside and out if i need to use it for a business trip to a client site..

Had a bump in my td5, got a courtesy car, a fiesta. I said to lady who delivered it, where does the caravan, kids, dogs, cayaks, kite buggy and kites go, she said nobody takes that much away.

Mmmmmmmmm I do.

did the fiesta have a tow hitch?, you could have given it them back with a melted clutch!

ahh the joys of a courtesy car - I've never had one that is owt like the car it replaces.

so go on bugger the bloody thing up and when they moan tell em that if you only needed a hatch back you'd bloody own one, you own a landy cos you use it

Use mine for everything, today I was pulling a trailor full of logs I'd just cut and split having dropped a tree, this weekend hopefully it's off to Cardiff and next month it's pulling a caravan to Builth Wells to the Royal Welsh Show. Its colour is blue and mud and gets me about in comfort. I leave off roading to the faithfull serries 3, slow but fun!

Much like everyone else I use my '97 300tdi XS for hauling caravans, (yes, I have two), taking dogs for walks, munching miles and light off roading. I will also be using it to flee the country soon as am moving to NE Spain where there are miles & miles of dirt roads to explore. I am told that you can drive between towns almost without hitting tarmac. Heaven!!!

I don't use it for shopping and local running around as have a smart for that.:D
