undo steel pipe with flexi in it by removing the 2 x bolts and fit blank tin gasket under it and resecure pipe ,so pipe is blocked

Well yeah I figured that I could do it that way but that means it isnt blanked off at the manifold and that I wouldnt be using the new top hose that comes in the kit does any of this make a difference and why do I have all these extra's and am I going to get any benefit at all from this lol.

thats all thats needed ,you can fit your other pipe if you want but it wont make any difference apart from making egr blanking obvious ,

On mine a 2p piece fits in the union of the st/steel flexi-total cost for mod =2 pence.
All looks normal from outside at MOT time in case rules change

Well Im still pretty pleased with myself, Changed the air, oil, fuel filter, Glow plugs and oil change, Thermostat and Temp sensor near thermo. All in all good day.

Hi Gav, the picture shows a water cooled EGR valve as per Japan spec.

To do the job properly, you first need to remove the two coolant hoses either side of the silver coloured cylinder and join them together, so the circuit remains complete.

Then remove the EGR valve, the top hose and all the corrugated pipe and chuck it away. Block off the the in the exhaust manifold with a blanking plate and install a plain TDi rubber top hose - and you're done.

De-EGR'd and more space within the engine bay.:D:D

I've got the same 'cooled egr' on my jap spec disco.

I removed the intercooler pipe with the flexi on it and installed the blank there.
Then fitted a new intercooler to manifold pipe.
Sorted!
