Smoking issues any advise?

Hi been getting an intermittent problem. Lots of smoke after the engine has warmed up. Mostly when standing at a junction or pulling away in first and second. Does not happen all the time. I was thinking to replace the glow plugs anything else I should be looking at?

What engine? I'll hazard a guess at a tdi ...

The plugs on a diesel do nothing after the initial start-up.

First thing I'd check the air supply, all pipes, filter etc including the intercooler. Check for oil deposits and de-lamination of the internal tubing layers.

How long you had it? If it's a tdi has the injection pump been tweaked?

Bang on, 300tdi Had it for a year now was fine up until a couple of months ago, no tweaking of the pump to my knowledge. i change the air filter every 6k and it is due so I will go through the tubing and have a look.thanks

If you do start buggering about with the pump, remember to take measurements to return to original position. Just incase it doesn't correct the problem, and causes another !!!
