Freelander 1 Smoking freelander

For what it's worth, after full service, new crank case filter (the separator upgrade) fitting EGR bypass and having a remap I too now have the mysterious 2k misfire and more blue smoke and lumpy on start up. Still pulls like a train though. But misfire was not there before the work was done. The EGR mod looks likely to be the issue to me.
Since I had it all apart to fit crank case filter I will be checking all connectors this weekend. I know that the first left hand air intake pipe is wearing very thin in one place where it rests on the engine, I have a replacement for this so will be fitting this weekend too.

My 2006 td4 bmw engined freeby was stuttering at 2-2500 rpm producing blue smoke
4x4 garage owner said he's had 4 in the last month and Land Rover reconed it was a qlitch in the brain
asked if my temperature gauge was going to half way and it was only getting to 1/4 so told me to blank of the air vents on bumper and see how it goes
A brand new car as soon as it heats up all stuttering and smoke gone
just fitted a renault 5 thermostat in line from top rad hose that only opens once temp reaches 89 degrees.

Mine suffers from spluttering at 2K RPM. I'm convinced it's the EGR being deactivated that's causing it. It only does it on a trailing throttle, so I ignore it now.

That's logical as it only started to happen when I fitted the EGR valve, I just avoid cruising at 2k revs

I went through all the EGR and turbo route was about to replace valve stem seals as smoke was so bad after trailing throttle
prior to the thermostat i had eliminated the trailing smoke by replacing a (NEW RECONDITIONED INJECTOR) with a brand new injector
my td4 just didnt like the recon passed all tests in precision engeneers test bed but made td4 smoke like mad
since fitting the renualt thermostat gets up to half gauge within 4 -5 mile and purrs all day
Had a lovely run round part of the North Coast 500 route to test
