Freelander 1 Smoking brakes

Weird one. New discs, Delphi pads, new calipers, pins, brake hoses and all bled.

Noticed slight puff of smoke from discs when parking the other day so checked and rechecked no seizing and all fitted correctly.
Just driven 4 miles without using brakes and discs are cold.
Slight brake application and smoke.

Anyone had this? I cleaned the discs with brake cleaner to remove protective coating, could it be just bedding in and cleaning the manufacturing and storage materials off?

It is a bit disconcerting!!
Thanks. Fluid level is fine and brakes are always freeing after application.

Discs and pads clean? Not hot any oil or grease on them?
Is it smoke or dust?

I've noticed a bit of a smell when bedding in new pads and disks on occasion but never noticed any smoke. Were the surfaces of the pads quite rough? I presume it would be hot spots because of less of the pad surface contacting the disk firmly until it's bedded in.

Pads were rough and discs had slight surface cross scoring. I am sure you are right, I'll assume it is bedding in and maybe some surface contaminant.

A few hundred miles on I'll report back!!

I'd let them bed in first.

I've had smoke from fake pads before now though. I found some apparently "genuine" LR pads a few years ago, for a silly cheap price.They smoked once I'd come to a stop and actually they didn't work as pads either, so guessed they were fake. Thankfully Ebay agreed they were fake too, so I got my money back.

I only use Delphi pads, still from Ebay, and not had any fakes yet.

I had it with and old astra but that was brake grease jamming the pins a little so cleaned it up and put back together and was fine. Iv also had pads that have done it on a transit cleaned them up still done it for a few miles but then was fine. Never had problems on the Freelander with cheap pads from gsf
