Hi, I've got a 58 plate freelander 2 and recently the emissions coming from the exhaust has been very black and smokey especially when accelerating.
I have just changed the air and pollen filter, the fuel filter and done an oil change, but even though the smoke has reduced slightly it's still there.
Is there any solution please.

Does it do mostly short journeys? If so it could simply be soot in the exhaust, which gets ejected when you put your foot down.

It's worth checking the boost pipes for splits and loose clips.

Don't forget that a diesel will make an amount of black smoke at full power, unless it has a DPF fitted, in which case it shouldn't smoke at all.
