Bit of history.

2006 TD5 with 55000 on the clock.
Had issues with the MAF and disconnected it for better performance.
Recently though, in the morning or when the engine is cold, when I turn over the engine and depress the accelerator I get no/low revs until a big cloud of smoke kicks out the exhaust. Once that happens (5-10 seconds) all is well and she runs as normal.
I have the replacement MAF to fit this avo, but thought I would ask you guys in case there is anything else to think/worry about.

Cheers folks.

without a working maf the ecu uses a default code to run the car, and takes a few seconds from start up to work out there re is no maf info and then use the default code,
why though would you be turning over the engine and reving it as that is the procedure for starting after running out of fuel so the ecu will be chucking extra fuel in to fill the injectors, hence the smoke

Not the head gasket kind of smoke Jonnyb.
Johnlad, that sounds about right. Fitted the new maf and will try it out once the engine cools. Will keep you posted.

Thanks for the info.
