My '03 Disco-2 works just fine at the moment. But she's done 50k nearly, and the bags look perished, so I thought I'll be a smart arse and replace them with smelly new Dunlops.

Books says that vehicle must be recalibrated afterwords with blocks to ensure vehicle is level with correct ride height.

Sounds like ****e to me. If she is okay now, and I replace both sides (inc shockers) at the same time, will she not just reinflate okay back to the same ride height?

I took both my trailing arms off, and the sensor arms just dangled down. Put it all back together, and no probs. ( I didnt touch the ingition switch though ).

As long as you dont change the ride height sensors, you should have absolutely no need to recalibrate just changing the bags.

PS I like the idea of preventative maintenance :)

Hi guys

I am having the same problem with my rear suspension, near side went down overnight last week, started her up and all ok, so have only used a couple of times for short trips.

Have tried the soapy spray but cannot detect leaks on bags lines or compressor, my 04 disco only adjusts the ride height while traveling - so cant check the bags at full height.

At first it was obvious that the near side was at fault but now the off side seems low as well when the car is stood. Is it possible for the sls to try to balance each side when its switched off ! or could air leaking at the valve on the pump or both bags? ...will change both bags if needed but would rather know where the problem is.

Will check further today, but if anyone has had same problem / fixes then good to hear ;)

Apparently, it does try to balance.

But to be honest, changing the bags will almost certainly fix the 'slow droop' problem that people have with SLS. If it AINT the bags, it is the air harness (the hoses from the compressor to the bags) or the valves in the compressor housing.

You can check the unions in the compressor box by the soapy water trick, but if the valves themselves are slack, it's a new compressor assy.

I'd change the bags (good investment, sounds like they are about due) and see what happens then.

Replace your airsprings sooner rather than later, or you will be in for a new compressor soon as well.
