morning all
ive had my latest disco a few weeks now and slowly addressing the problems discos throw at you
im into my welding at the min, outer sills and a bit of wheel arch but surprisingly the boot floor is original and mint as is the rear crossmember and body mounts.
but i degress, the reason for my call for help is something i mentioned in a earlier message
when starting hot or cold, whether its been turned off for ten seconds or ten days it takes about six seconds of cranking to start.
it always starts but it always takes at least six seconds of cranking to start.
ive changed lift pump
no leaks at spill pipes
cleaned filter under rear chassis
changed heater plugs
changed under bonnet filter
apart from said slow starting the truck runs absolutely perfect
one of the best i,ve owned
its done 119000 miles and it doesn,t crank over slowly the cranking speed is normal.
any pointers would be gratefully received
oh ive done a search and cant find anything before i met mauled by the regulars!
just to add it feels like theres no diesel for the inital cranking

I had a similar issue, it sounded like it was turning over normally but just it wasn't quite enough. I added an extra earth strap from the battery neg terminal to the timing belt cover and it worked. Worth while checking existing earth straps too. I also advanced the timing just a smidge (around 2mm) to improve cold starting aswell as the edc cold start is a bit weak, it fires up with a healthy rev and drives sweet.
