The clutch has started slipping on my 2002 TD4 . Can anyone tell me if its adjustable or is it time for a new one . Its done 76,000 miles. Any idea of how much to fit ? Cheers

dude, you are looking at ALOT to get it changed. they are auto ajusting. they have renound clutch problems, probably the cylinder gone. get it bled at a garage first £20.

Master cylinder £100 ( check out Ebay) easy enough job to change. (if you go this route ask me as I have just been down it)If same fault continues then it looks like the slave cylinder which is internal = gearbox out = £500 = 8 hrs to a garage. Try driving in second gear then change to 4th and put your foot down, if it reves it looks like the clutch.

Thanks for replies i"ll try master cylinder first , is it the one next to brake servo on the bulkhead ? if it is i have looked inside car at clutch pedal to see how it unclips from cylinder there is thin oil (maybe clutch fluid)all over this linkage. Could it be leaking if so would it cause the clutch to slip or not go into gear. Mine is slipping goes in gear fine.Hope its this dont fancy the big bill Cheers

Faulty Master/ slave cylinders are far more likely to make gears difficult to engage. As you are having no difficulty in engaging gears I think it more likely that you have a problem with the clutch/ pressure plate. Please get a test drive and second opinion from a local garage before commiting any cash to a new master cylinder.D..
