slight drift when braking?

I have noticed when braking that my 90 tends to drift slightly to the right. The steering wheel is not pulling to the right and stays 'straight'.
My tyre pressures are fine, tyres all good. Chassis is in good order.
I am running on standard wheels/tyres and have no modifications.
When I come to a nice easy stop and the front suspension rises again it seems that one side comes up slightly before the other? Is that normal.
It passed it's MOT in March.
Any ideas please? :)

PS.... Went to a Land Rover show at Eastnor Castle Herts yesterday. It was a washout but I covered 280 miles on 37 litres of diesel and that = 35mpg:eek:... fook me!

haha im thinkin of upgrading my 1.5 turbo to either a 200 or 300 tdi and if u can get that kind of economy it def seems worth it!! Especially as my current engine seems to be running funny :S

You did well :) well done.

From the sounds of the suspension, you have one worn shock, This MAY contribute to the pull, but Im no expert. I would be looking for a siezed/slow caliper piston and brake pad wear 1st. 1 side is obviously providing more 'Bite' than the other.

Good luck

Thank you.... I will do the logical and start with the brakes and see how that goes. If I could feel the steering wheel pull with the slight drift I would be more confident it was the brakes. But it is the first and quickest option... it is an intermitent fault so a slow caliper could be more likely that shocks? Any other views appreciated:)

I would check the hubs after driving to see if one is warm or hot from the brake binding. Also it would be worth taking the wheels off, pads out and cleaning up the piston edges. I had this a month back and it was crap on the piston stopping it returning this binding.

It could be bushes as I've been told MOT are letting more movement through, not as tight as they used to be. But as it is under bracking my guess is the oposite side to the way it drifts isn't working fully.

I was at Eastnor for the weekend. On the CRAG ( Countryside Recreactional Access Group stand also 4x4Response Wales. It was a bit of a mud bath but Sunday sun came out for packing up.

Oh and my 300tdi 110 can get close to 33on a long run. But mine is tweeked and it do 70 on the motorway.

Thanks for that Vinnie I will take the wheels off and check.
I am suprised that we can get such good MPG... a gentle right foot is without doubt the key. :)

Check the bushes on the radius arms. If one side is worn more than the other it can cause the axle to "steer" slightly. A few milimetres is enough to have an effect.
Also check the bushes on the rear trailing links as they can have the same effect albeit by causing the rear axle to "steer" rather than the front.
Under braking the whole moving weight of the vehicle is transmitted through these components and their associated bushes.
Do you get a similar but opposite drifting movement when accelerating?
