can you point me in the right direction to a how to ??
I don't know of a specific "How to" but it's a really easy job.
What you want to end up with is this:
I left the valve in place, but blocked off. It's best/neatest if you can undo the retaining bolts and remove the valve as well, but mine wouldn't budge.
So, here we go:
1. Undo the jubilee clips that hold the top intercooler hose in place to the engine at one engine and the intercooler (radiator-looking thing) at the other;
2. Remove the two bolts that hold the metal corrugated pipework to the side of the EGR valve;
3. Now remove the top hose and it's metal pipework in one go and throw away!! Check in the inlet manifold (the bit on the top of the engine where you have just removed the pipe from) to see if there is any tar-like substance. If there is. I there is any, use a flat-bladed knife to remove it from the entry hole.
Keep the jubilee clips for the new rubber top hose;
4. Insert the jubilee clips onto the new hose and install it in place of the old one and tighten the jubilee clips;
5. Assemble the new gasket/blanking plate and attach to the EGR valve, secure with new bolts;
6. Remove the electrical connector from the valve and zip-tie to one side, out of the way;
7. Remove the thin vacuum pipe from the EGR valve, block it with a self-tapping screw or similar and zip-tie to one side.
You should now have a set-up that looks exactly like the picture.
