Just try not to loose enthusiasm even when it's all going to sh#t. Mine is my first ever vehicle and I'v never owned anything but Land Rovers. I knew absolutly nothing about spannering when I bought it about10 years ago and the best way to learn is to maintain, rebuild and restore!!!! Do not let anyone els near it even for the complicated jobs and you will eventualy sus it out on your own and have twice as much satisfaction and know what to do next time it's knackered!!!! sorry for the long speach and poor punctuation, but I'v just got back from the pub which is also a brewery and had several pints being a hot day and all...................

oops, sorry for not being on here recently.

Been doing my MG midget and then have been on holiday in holland and germany with it.

Got the new landy chassis though, so hopefully work will start again soon.

well a little more was done today, got the bulkhead totally stripped so its ready to come off tomorrow

however under the screen there was some nasty rust.

Just wondering if theres a panel for this or if its going to be sheet metal and folder time?

Hi all, Glad you started this thread again Britax! Your bulkhead looks 10 times worse than the one I scrapped!! Good luck with it! some where along the line someone asked how mine was comming along. I'v not done much recently as we'v just had our first child and it has delayed things a bit. I'v spent more time playing with the 90. I'll do bits as and when I can but I am not planning to put it on the road untill next spring. I'v had it started but I havn't driven it yet as I am waiting for one of my mates to help us bleed off the brakes and clutch. After that its just pannals, lights and a repaint!!

The Chassis was a new Galv one but they dont look right when you dont paint em! It was brush painted with special metals primer and smooth black hammerite. I know hammerite chips off easily, but I'll just touch it up every now and then and I'm sure it will be fine!!!

Got any pics of yours Gav????????

Digeridoostu, how the hell can you post today at 20:51, when its only 17:18?

its been playing up all day.
take a look at the thread on insurance on the off road section. my queston comes before the topic i was asking about!

I do have some on my phone but i aint that good at uploading them on my computer so, i get my mates at school to do them for me and send them through msn!!

I should get them at the weekend and i'll put them on but, she's coming on now and nearly strippd to the chassis. Just hope I dont loose interest. I'm moving house too quite soon so that could be fun getting it moved. Dad said that I'm selling it but he's got no chance, I have the keys to his gun cabinet and 90!!! lol

Thats exactly what I mean, no offence intended!! The rear crossmember is the worst bit when not painted.
I'm gonna put one on my defender soon too!!! don't forget the rest of yer wheel nuts!!

my dad was given a spray on liquid when he got his old Marcos chassis galvanised years ago so we have sprayed it in that so you can paint on it.

Im guessing that i cant get a panel for the repair i need? looks like im going to get folding then.

It would have been much easier to get a new bulkhead now, but its not past it. As its my dad whos funding this as it is his landy i think having just got the new chassis he was a little low on cash. Didnt expect to have such a big tin worm munching under the screen either.

stu... yours is looking damn fine i must say, atleast you have the excuse of a baby to say your not working on the landy lol!

Thanks britax!
I'm afraid there is no bulkhead repair pannel for that top section that I know of. Maybe you could try the guys that fabricate bulkheads. They have advertised on page 204 of Novembers LRM. There is no company name or website printed, just a telephone and fax: Tel-(01283)734324, Fax-(01283)732255. It also says "Darbyshire, ask for Andrew Morris".

Failing this I recon you are dooooooooomed!!!! You'll need another bulkhead or you will need to get practicing on yer fabrication!!

I was wondering the same thing no wonder the week seems to be going fast!! I posted it at 08:51 not 20:51. This site must have a confused 24hr clock thing going on.

aye i noticed that too.
its not mine, stole the piccy off the www.
i think the same as you. it just dont look right, do it? chassis should be black and thats it.

yeah i think the same too, looks abit garish!

had a couple of days on the landy and now theres nothing to show for it

several cardboard boxes full of bolts and brackets and stuff

all thats left of the old chassis now

aim to get everything in the tip this weekend then get on with the bulkhead and hopefully it will start going back together on the new chassis soon enough. Once all the shackles and everything are galvanized.

Only problem now is that my capri will be coming home soon and thats going to go where the old chassis was under cover while i re-engine it.
