Anyone got any advice on buying/fitting these on a Freelander?

My wife found it a bit tricky to get in when we test drove it, so looking at getting some of these pretty sharpish.

I have looked on WebBizCard (tm) from www.uk2.net and they are about £140, I just need to know they are actuall useful not just decorative

Fitting is fairly easy really you will need some riv nuts that are available from the stealers, they are a bit tricky to fit as you need to compress the riv nut in the pre-drilled holes in the chassis and sill.

Other than that its all about following the bolt on instructions.

Ive just fitted a second hand pair to my freebie, I "unfortunatly" already had the rivnuts in the chassis but.... they do rust over time and become unusable so in true landie fashion I had to drill the old ones out!!!!:(

got a second hand pair for mine last year, managed to get them fitted for me by my local4x4 dealer after hours if you know what i mean, only cost me a tenner to fit both, pretty straight forward to fit,the holes are allready on youre chassis, but are covered by some thick cloth patches, rivnuts are a bit of a pain,my mech made the holes a bit bigger with a drill, then used a tool to insert and compress them, then bolted the steps on,havent found them to be of much use really, just look really good, when i see a hippo without them they look naked, happy i fitted mine hope this helps,do a search for side step fitting loads of advice on here....

Thanks for the advice, will do a search.
I just hope mine hasn't got rivnuts in the holes already!

hi, I got a set from paddock spares, really easy to fit, took me 45 mins, no special tools, cost £120 inc delivery

I find the sidesteps very usefull, especially when I wash the car, washing the rear of the roof I do stepping on the rearwheels (l. and r.) and holding on to the roofrails, going towards the front of the roof I step down from the rearwheels onto the sidesteps and finish the roof like that. No fiddling around with stepladder aso. as I did the first time I washed the car. Now it's easy, no risk of hitting the car with the ladder and above all it's a quick way to wash the "beast".:) :) :)

That's a good use for them, I don't have roof rails though, will have to look into maybe getting them, as I have a roofbox
