P38A Shunty shunty!

A week before we go to blighty and the old bird has a shunting box...
After 230.000mls maybe it's time to swap it out...
Symptoms are when slowing to a stop it makes a shunting noise like carriages bumping together. Other than that no other issues!!
Changes up and down cleanly and even under hard acceleration it's behaved.
Oil changed regularly along with filter.

1999 2.5tdi p38.

Better it happen now than in a week's time. At least you have the lads 38 to use.

Yeah, that has been up in argument à few times... His is in the same shape as mine, all the niggles done. ball joints, seals and oils.so on.. It's just not mine

Now that's a good point bit as Keith said, is it a result of faffing about with things that should not be faffed with.... I've possibly dislodged some crap and it's entered the box or its a coincidence and it's due a refurb after 230.000ml..
It's behaves really well otherwise..

Thats a good question Grrrrrr, would it jump at any other point also? The whole transmission is original and is all a touch tired..

If it slips on the overrun torque convertor unlocked, I doubt you would get much forward movement under load.

The donut was changed last year as it was cracking at the joints.
