I would like to give a fantastic shout out to Nodge68 who took time out to help me with a problem. My rear passenger door on my freelander2 was locked in the closed position and nothing I could do would open it, I tried everything including a hard reset, I need my car as I have a dad who has hear problems, and the MOT is due soon, and i was told it will not pass with a locked door, I went on YouTube and asked in a few groups but was told you cannot take the inner door panel off if the door is locked in the closed position, the only way is to cut off the door panel, so Nodge68 contacted me and spent ages helping me, he even went out to his own car to experiment with his door panel, he sent me a link to a Trim Kit and told me to try that, and it’s a wonderful kit and not expensive, the kit arrived today, I spent 10 minutes in the car and the door panel is off, no damage, so it CAN be done when the door is locked closed… AND all the videos on YouTube say the panel has got to be removed from the bottom of the door. it DOESNT. I removed mine from the top, no trouble, so a HUGE Thank you to a great guy. Thank You Nodge68.

well done @Nodge68 :) ,
though I thought Gay-lander doors were supposed to stay locked in the rear.
This keeps the men you pick up safe in the back after a good Gay-lander session.o_O
Allegedly o_O:rolleyes:

You're welcome. ;)

It was also something I wanted to know, just in case my FL2 also suffers this issue in the future.:)

plus 1 mate, indeed @Nodge68 has also helped me over the years, massive credit and thks to him

funny enough my D3 failed when the rear side door lock failed whilst it was having its Mot , was then in a similar situation, JLR wanted to cut the door panel off, with some fantastic help managed to get the card off with no damage and got the door opened , fitted actuator myself as if I remember rightly the dealer wanted £4-500 to change it, cost me approx £90.00

As a side note, may i add plse, it drives me nuts when a thread is posted by some newbies where they don’t say please or thank u, seeing we all offer our time and knowledge for free feel it’s a must that basic manners are incorporated I think the thread, ( I’ll get off my soap box now, lol )

No mate, it to keep the doors locked so the Discovery owners can’t get in to see just how lovely the leather interior and well set out dashboard is, Once you get them in, you can’t get them out ;)

Stuart.
I agree whole heartedly, it’s just good manners to thank someone who has helped you, members go out of the way to help others, and this is what makes a group a wonderful place to be a member of, it’s just ignorance to ot say please or offer a thank you, I always make a point of thanking other members,
