I am presuming this to be something to do with air intake? but it is disconnected and I am wondering if there is a reason for this. Not really sure if its to do with the build up of crap that some people have mentioned on other threads or if that is a different thing. any help greatly appreciated

Should fit behind the headlight in a hole in the metal to pass into the wing.
 
it should be fairly obvious where its sits, cos there is a large oval hole that this sits in behind the headlighlight (as hippo says) going into the wing. may have been remove to get the the headlight out or summat!
 
Yep, found where it should go and re-fitted it ok but after further investigation I wondered if there was some benefit or technical advantage from disconnecting it?
 
Maybe the previous owner thought that repositioning the air intake in a higher position would prevent water entering the intake when off roading, or then again perhaps they just forgot to refit it :)
 
I have no idea whatsoever - can't remember what was done for MOT - maybe they took it off for some reason!
 
I vote it wasnt inducting enough hot air from the engine bay and as we all know from people who fit open cone filters directly into the enginebay with no cold air feeds ; HOT AIR GIVE YOU AN EXTRA 50BHP!!!

He's takin the ****. Chavs, shorry saxo owners think if you remove as much pipe as possible, un fit an open type air filter pipe thing, you'll get 50bhp eggstra. :eek:
 
nah, yer ok mate - bit wet behind the ears on the car front. Now ask me about horses or drumkits and we might get somewhere!!

Did today what they did with this airfilter thing but no increase of hp's though, either the contrary I'd say ?????:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: (If they're there I can't feel the 50 extra hp's ?????)
 
Maybe its the engine mapping.

Try this alternative method for a guaranteed 50bhp increase:


Reroute the air intake using massively oversized tubing to a forward facing area. I recommend through the undertray splash shield and then face it forward infront of your wheel. This is now forced air induction with the ability to induct as much crap and water as possible.


(will never forget the day i stopped to help someone who had broke down and found out he had managed to hydraulic his engine by hitting a puddle)

As the tube is not long enough to reach the place in front of the wheel as you describe it, can I put a piece of flexible tube as used in kitchens cookerhoods ?? I can fix this easily as I'm quiet handy in "designing" things, look at the attached pic. of the new lights I put on my car, just need to 'fix' the height adjustment bit.:p
