Those aren't facelift clocks. The colour and faces aren't correct. The fuel and and temperature dials are also between the rev counter and speedo. Definitely not correct. Do you have service history that corresponds to the mileage displayed?

yes all fits in with current milage, mine is a freelander 1 facelift not a freelander 2 facelift, just in case there is any confusion

Just gone through all the listings for 2001 td4 freelanders for sale on ebay and these clocks ARE the correct type for my car, it appears that some have the newer clocks and some don't, thanks for everyones help and opinions on this matter

These are FL1 facelift clocks. These appeared late 2003 say 53 plate onwards.
Sorry about using my lane change indicators video. I can't get a picture to upload tonight.

Ah, it's a 2001 MY not a Facelift. Those are correct for 2001 FL1.

How much really changed for the 2001? Looks remarkably similar to the pre-2001 if you ask me. Even the black bumpers came a little later (mine are grey - 2001MY)

They changed the brake servo to a dual diaphragm unit, larger front vented disks and larger area calipers - different adjuster mechanism on rear brakes....... not sure what much else ;) ... oh, yes the ABS mod and ecu went to a Teves system from the Wabco...
L series was dropped (fools !) and the 'terrible diesel 4' added as BMW wanted to dump them somewhere instead of landfill :D
Auto box was available on the TurD4... I think the V6 was added to the range also at that time.
Oh, and they changed the (time) clock me thinks.... :)
And the ash tray was emptied....
Sure there are a few more things = but .....;)

Lots of detail changes - but nothing big. I hadn't noticed a difference in bumpers and wing mirrors GG? I'll have to compare mine to an earlier car now!!! LOL

Power fold mirrors become available after the 1A chassis update. So did the heated front screen.
Lots of wiring changes so took place and some systems become CAN BUS connected.

Crumbs, there's some CAN bus on an FL1? Ugh. What a PITA.

Yes there is some CAN BUS, but not much. It's mostly just coms between a few ECUs and the Ipack.
The FL1 was well behind other vehicles of the day where data links were concerned. The FL1 has a mix of K LINE BUS and CAN BUS.

I think JLR claimed lots of safety mods and stiffer chassis but who knows. Oh and didn't the bumpers and trim became black instead of grey.

I did read the that the 1A onwards chassis had thicker metal in key areas. Presumably this was to address some of the cracking that could occur at subframe mounts and such.
I think the colour of the bumpers and arch trims became optional. New buyer's were able to choose black or grey. However I think this arrived with the 2A chassis No.

There's an old Top Gear review of the 2001MY on YouTube which mentioned the chassis upgrade. So while cosmetically, not a great deal changed, there was an awful lot altered under the skin.

I am not a huge can of CAN bus and the way various ECUs are interconnected. I can see the advantages, but if there is a fault in or between an ECU, then they all start to complain. And if you try to retro-fit equipment, then you need Testbook to configure them to run it. It's all a bit of a pain for those of us decades down the line from when the cars were new... But that's enough of my gripe of the day! LOL
