Should it lower to bump stops?

Is it normal for the car to lower to the bump stops if not used for a couple of days? When started the suspension seems to rise to normal height ok.

LR say 15mm in 24 hours is acceptable, if it's all in good condition it may drop less, mine drops 5 to 10mm in a week since I renewed everything.
If the airsprings are original, they are almost certainly leaking, life expectancy is 7/8 years 80K miles according to LR. If you have leaks it will knacker the compressor.

Replaced all 4 bags last week, all the different heights work. Takes about 30 secs to rise to normal height from the bump stops. Just used it today, will check in the morning if its lowered.

Thanks, will check it tomorrow. How do I test the height sensors?
It may be possible to measure the resistance as the arm swipes across the board....

It should rise and fall uniformly based on the speed of your movement, spikes or jumping of the reading could indicate a duff sensor....

If the vehicle is parked on a slight slope or uneven ground, the car will tend to lower itself to the lowest corner every 6 hours, so if the slope or ground is severe enough it could end up on the stops within a day or so!!

I always thought that was so, but since I overhauled the EAS, even parked at crazy angle outside my front door, nose and nearside low, it doesn't drop.:D

Checked it today, not gone down. Checked for leaks using soapy water and found no leaks. Will keep an eye on it, if it does go down would the height sensors be the next thing to check?

Hopefully you won't have to but might I suggest that you start getting some Plusgas or similar into the sensor mounting bolts now, just in case.

Happy new year!
Checked the car this morning, not been used for 2 days, and its on its bump stops. How do I check the height sensors? Not very good with electrics so could do with an idiots guide! If If I leave one of the doors open overnight, its in a garage, would the affected corner drop?

Get a diagnostics cable & software from Mr Datatek (send him a pm), will show you the problem. If its a sensor then if you disable the eas then it wont self level/drop. If it still drops then its a leak.
Oh, and Happy New Year.

Leaving a door or the tailgate open freezes the suspension, if it drops with a door open you have a leak on that corner.
First check all the connectors to the height sensors are clean dry and not corroded.
Height sensors can be tested with a DVM, disconnect the arm and connector, connect the meter across 2 of the 3 pins on the 10K ohm range and slowly move the arm through the full length of it's travel a few times, the reading should change without any jumps or open circuits.
Probably better to do it on diagnostics.

If I use a faultmate, or similar, will this tell me which sensor is faulty? There are no error messages on instrument display.

Faultmate or the EAS software will show you any logged faults, you will also be able to look at sensor readings to see if there are any odd numbers when you command the suspension to go up or down.
