Sport Should I got for it.......?

I have an option to go for a Sport:

2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport V8, 4197CC Petrol, 5DR, Auto.

It has 92k on the clock, MOT Feb 2017, fully serviced

Tow bar, black leather, air con, heated seats, everything.......£14K

It's being sold by a colleague of a friend who is a V8 nut, works in a fleet workshop and is renowned for looking after his cars, so I am happy that it will not be a "pup". (Well as much as you can be!!)

What I am looking for is information/advice on issues, problems, fixes, what to look out for, working on them etc.

Any advice welcomed.

You are certainly correct " I can make up my own mind".

However, what I was after was "....information/advice on issues, problems, fixes, what to look out for, working on them etc.

Doing a bit of research is what helps make decisions and what I thought forums were all about.o_O
 
There doesn't seem to be many sports on here-guess that's a good sign. But have a look see what the common problems are on here.

How wonderful to have such a welcoming and informative forum member, encouraging a new member. It's what these forums are all about.
 
Two of my mates both owned RR sports of that era and both got shot within six months even though under warranty still. Said they hardly ever got to drive them as spent so much time back at the dealers for repair. They could just be unlucky of course?
 
Well I went to have a look over it and am very tempted. However, not the light leather interior I would like and there will be less that I can actually do on the car, not only with my limited knowledge but from a tools perspective. So still mulling it over.

However, I should not have gone in my current RR!!!

As I pulled up in the car park the suspension suddenly failed!! Fortunately where I was was a fleet workshop so we popped in on the ramps to have a look.

Rear bags were worn ( I had been meaning to replace them but not got round to it yet. New rear bags were sitting in my garage at home) and may have been leaking 'cos the compressor had packed up. No problem only a couple of miles from home. Then it wouldn't start, not even turn over. A quick look over and we found the main 40A fuse had blown.

So, new fuse in, check all is ok, drove home, ordered new pump for next day delivery, replaced bags.
Next day - new pump arrives, installed.

So when I run the car up to test the suspension, the compressor seems to be running continuously. Not looking good. Set the suspension up/down etc, but things do not seems right the lift to standard height seems very slow but the lift to high is fine.

I decided to disconnect the ECU and delay relay and fuses and the reconnect them. The electrics must have got it's knickers in a twist 'cos when I fired the car up again all was back to normal and nothing abnormal since.

I don't think she appreciated me going to see another model!!!!:D

Have you heard of the saying, if you aint got anything useful to say, don't bother saying anything at all ??
 
I can only imagine he was having a bad day otherwise it sort of makes this and every other forum basically pointless, and even if you do use google , it will only point you to this and other forums where experienced people are giving their advice. Just my opinion but Google is pretty useless if their is no information to find :)
 
If you want it, get it. Remember as we all know, big cars=big money. If you can afford to run it and repair it. Take the plunge. If I could afford one, I'd do it. Then I do fix my own cars anyway...
