My son was helping me set FIP timing and caused a short from battery positive to ECU body. I send the ECU to a auto electrician and he says there is no problem.
Car doesn't start, glow plug light not coming on and rev counter goes up to 1500 rpm when key is turned on. Relay in engine compartment buzzing, but no buzz from FIP solonoid, please help.

Shorting out the electric connections is about the worst thing you can do, as it can cause all sorts of horrible or impossible to find problems.

All you can do is check all the wiring for burning or melting.

This is why it's absolutely vital that the battery negative is disconnected before putting spanners near an engine.

I managed to start my freelander. There is definitely a problem with ECU. I stumble across a thread where someone suggested putting a direct earth to ECU. I followed his advice, problem solved. I will still need to have the box sorted though. Thanks for answering to my post kudo's to you. Best regards.
