:p

lol wifes paying it now lol.

ok so I ordered the high vol oil pump for the 72, asked the guy three times if it came with EVERYTHING I needed to do the job as stu is coming all the way from nothern scum town to do the job :p

Anyhoo, when the box arrived I opened the instructions and guess what it says you need to fit it with a new standard relief valve and spring. FFS

so I email them saying not happy but prepared to pay for the bits but wont pay postage £5.

They say contrary to there own instructions that I dont need em. Now to be honest if that was true why is it in writing in the box that I do?

Further he say they have no springs in, and more or less thay have damn little interest in getting any (is the attidude I picked up).

This was proven today when I called to order the vlave and asked again about the springs and first he said they were on back order then when he looked em up they havnt even ordered any yet-2 weeks fookin later! he could have got em in by now when I needed em.

Also on a another note, the quality of the machining in the gears is a bag o ****e, never would be allowed out the shop at work, burred up to fook and look like they have been dropped about 3 times.

All in all another big name that lets the customer down in a big way.

Thanks for listening

well really just to be better safe then sorry, the oil light flicks occasionally when shes hot at tickover. I have wondered on the last few drives if it was the relief valve sticking little after its been in storage for a few decades as it hasnt done it much recently but better safe than sorry and stu reckons this is the way to go.

The engines its self has done very low miles as it was a genuine LR replacement, so clean inside- amazing. Stu reckons its the quitest rv8 hes ever heard. Does sound nice :D

Oh forgot to add the ancilleries wernt replaced with the engine, is it called a long engine right? so the oil pump is the old one as far as we can tell, prob just worn. I have the flat surface ready to reface the base plate.

yeah I know, I did read it but two things. One I dont like it :D

and two idle is about 850 rpm atm till brand new carbs settle in and I think that really it should never be on at those rpm. mind you as I said to 8inav it hasnt done it recently. I just dont wanna take any chances on those slow moving green lanes in the height of summer heat!

do any of you guys know where tadpole relief valves come into the equasion? Ive heard the name but know nothing more. I asked real steel and they didnt have a scooby.
