In preperation I have a Disco, I need some shackells, what type will I need, for ropes and bridle for the rear, and one for tree strop for front winch.
Please help coz i am not sure what SWL I need, and I need to be save when I use this Kit.:confused:

If you have to ask this type of question

do you really know what you are doing and if you would be safe

a better question would be

Where can proper I get winch and towing training

SWL on shackles, what you got on your strops, how do you know tree will carry it?

Get 3.5Tonne shackles. Make sure they're stamped with the SWL. When using thre winch try and use a snatchblock as it halves the strain on the winch,

For strops etc get 2tonne strops and again make sure they're rated and marked. as 2T swl Lifting gear has a safety factor of Approx 7:1 so a 2 tonne strop has a breaking strength of 14tonnes.

Yes you are quite correct.
I do need some winch traing.
I have only used shackells to lift.
I have two shackell on my winch, one on a snatch block, one on a hook. I have one unknown shackell attached on the rear.

So, When I am pulling or getting pulled what would be Sage advice be.
you guys care and Know about Land Rovers.
I have only Just started, please share your wisdom.
I know winches, towing can be lethal.

There's some good tutorials on youtube.....just don't take everything as gospel but not a bad place to get the basics
