My 54 HSE Diesel Auto freelander has developed a severe vibration from the rear when doing 40 mph, any ideas what it could be? I took it too a garage and they said could be propshaft? Plus any one know of any good indy mechanics who could look at this in Kingston/Surrey area, I do not want to go to a main stealer.

I had a similar problem on the near side front, it turned out to be the tyre. Get it checked first, as it will be much cheaper to fix!!

get under and try to move the driveshafts that attach between wheel and diff..should be no concernable play. try shaking your diff too-if it's loose it's a duff mount

Took my TD4 to Sayers M R in Bedfont this morning, straight away they found rear axle bush needs replacing and the off side front drive shaft needs replacing, total cost £560.00, is this a fair price????????????????

A front drive shaft costs £70 new and half an hour at most to fit. The other bit won't be anywhere near £500 so I'd say get a second quote.

It's a 54 plate, so face lift model.....the drive shafts cost more money, try and get a rear for less than £300 so I assume the fronts will be more expensive too.
