Evening all...

I've just become the very proud owner of a spanking 'new' (E reg - so probably a 90?) defender 3.9 V8.... anyway enough of what makes me smile...

I try to be hands on.. at least thats my intent... though being an aeronautical engineer mine is slightly more theoretical rather than hand on.. and that why i need some advice...

I'm looking to give it a good service in the next few months... so looking for advice as to:

  1. What a actual 'service' entails... i.e. what would a normal garage do? and what would you recommend i do? Is there a good guide / website to tell me what to do?
  2. Any good websites to get new parts / consumables from?
  3. Should i really go to a garage.. and stop thinking i do it for myself?
Many thanks in advance for all your help!

Jay

Change all the fluids, coolent is an opiton.
Change all the filters.
Change the plugs and leads are an option.

Have look on ebay for service items, most of the indpendant LR part suppliers do service kits, get oils and antifreeze local.
Job Done. :)

every six months engine oil and filter
once a year all the oils and filters and spark plugs
advise every 2 years replace cap leads and rotor arm use only gen dealer parts not any other make!
grease the prop's at least once a year!
