Right the land rover bloke I usually use for all my mechanical jobs is usually very good knows what he's on about an is resonably priced. But, I asked him about a 96k service an he said it would cost £600!! Is this right?? I spoke to some other garages (not LR specialists) an they've said abou £200 - £250 mark.

What do u lot think is it worth paying that much or am I jus being had

over? What sort of work is involved in a 96k service?

Cheers

I doubt 250 quid would cover the cost of the oils/parts for a 96,000 miles service let alone the labour.

Have a look at what should be checked/changed.

I think I'll have to dis-aggree with yer there ZZR .... I just bought in ALL the gear for my 96K service Iridium plugs, Oil, Diff oils, Brake fluid, P.Steering Fluid, air filter, fuel filter & all the non sensical bits & bobs

Total ...... £155 ..........get the local Indie to "Labour" it @ £125

Grand Total £280 .......................

IT WORKS FER ME!!!!

After looking at that 600 seems a bit better I might try an negotiate a cheaper price, It needs to be done it's started missin at about 2000rmp so i'm hopin a good service will sort it out.

Cheers

He's a good guy, I've recommended him on here before - he did blend motors for me, (around £300 all 3, brand new LR motors, incl labour), major service - was about £350 when I had it done last year, he knows his way round a P38 and will also do engine transplants etc at his workshop in Walsall. Does all the other work at your home / office and travels Midlands no charge and anywhere else for a bit extra. Only minus is that he didn't have his own diagnostic kit, although was hoping to be able buy a Faultmate last I saw him. :D
