Anyone used FREELANDER SPARES UK (their use of capitalisation not mine) on fleabay, are they ok?

I'm about to do a service a few weeks and was going to order the bits soon, also are Britpart really that bad  - I know a few on here really don't like them but any opinions grateful.

Genuine oil and air filters aren't that much, the most expensive part of a service kit is the pollen filter, so use an after market one.

hi I would not use Freelander spares again I had a "new" drive shaft of them there was a problem with the abs ring being one and a half mm wider than origanl equipment was told they would get back to me i got another from local shop a bit more expensive but it WAS NEW the freelander spares was put on my bench within 2 weeks it was covered in rust in the shaft I HOPE this really helps in your decision as Freelander spares never got back to me what a wast of 80 odd quid

I got a full filter kit from them for just over £40 delivered, it all fitted as it should and i would use them again.

Bought same service kit, fuel filter was britpart and the pollen filter flexi sides broke when I tried to fit, air and oil filters were OK

Why buy a kit? One doesn't change oil filters at the same frequency as air filters. IMHO it is best and possibly cheaper to buy individual items.

Whenever I first buy a car I always carry out a full service even if the service book states it's just been done. I also carry out a full inspection and replace all the defective parts that I find (mot's count for nothing in my opinion) After many years working for for various dealerships I can honestly state that I wouldn't trust or believe any of them.

I wonder what crankcase breather filter a kit of parts would supply for a TD4? It would certainly not be the BMW part that I would require.

Most Britpart items are fine and when people spout on about how ALL their parts are rubbish you know they have an alternative agenda. I have been using many of their parts for years on my LR's and never had one fail or underperform yet.
Their OE parts really are of OE manufacturer and often don't have the manufacturing markes removed or blanked out, I experienced this again last week where the item was just packaged in a BP packet but was of the same manufacture as the original part.

I agree to an extent about the service kits. Certainly I replace the oil-filter every 6-months but the air & crankcase filters are done at 12-months (I know, I know, buy a BMW one) and the fuel filter less often still. Just buy a kit to start with and then buy the parts induvidually as you go on or need the complete kit again. Haven't had any problem with the BP pollen filters, with the angle they have to be inserted at I should imagine it MIGHT be possible to damage one of any make if you weren't careful?

Crankcase breather filter was not part of the service kit I bought had to buy off ebay, cost about £11. Now changed to the BMW modified breather insert, cost about £24 from BMW dealer.

No alternative agenda at all. I don't work in the auto parts industry or anything to do with motor vehicles. My experience of them has been very poor from the crappy fall apart pollen filter & the too large diameter fuel filter which I had to force into the housing & then cut out when I changed it two years later to the really bad attitude when trying to deal with them re delivery of a bush & I ended up with no part & no money. That was the final straw for me, their attitude really stank. My view now is that there are so many better companies & parts out there so why would I want to give my hard earned money to such ill-mannered people who have zero concept of customer care or quality for that matter.

iam surprised they dealt with y ou as they are wholesaler and dont do retail, thats the bit that some dont realise and annoys me with a range of parts they would have just as eay sold you genuine cheaper than most places

Maybe that's what the problem is. I ordered the bush from their website which is possibly a loophole in their system & they don't really want to deal with small stuff & minions like me. Would certainly go some way to explain the bad attitude. As for the shoddy filters, they were from one of their suppliers & I really should have learned re the quality but I was in a fix & on a really tight budget that month which was why I tried to get the bush there (I literally had just enough in the bank to cover that bush, that's how tight things were). Ended up borrowing some cash & going to the scrappy when they messed me around & left me out of pocket with nothing & that's why I'm so against them. I got so angry with their snide responses that I told them to delete all my details & never darken my doorstep again & then blocked them as spam in my email account.

Not one to hold a grudge then...:bolt:

Yeah, I know - I need therapy:D

Just gets annoying when every so often you get some tit who assumes you have some sort of agenda just cause everything so far has went swimmingly for them. Too many people on here have had problems with this company & its products for it to be a coincidence & you'd think they'd realise that we don't all work for the motor industry.

also gets annoying when people confuse poor pattern parts sold as part of a range of varous makes standards from whole company ,ive had more problems than some as i use more parts and having to remove 2x gearboxes and rebuild them shortly after already doing so is annoying plus other parts but this also happens withe the other suppliers too ,i usualy buy genuine or oe from them cheaper than others and obviously get few faulty parts but if you buy there budget stuff as with others there is a risk if people said britpart pattern parts instead of company as a whole it would be more accurate
