So recently purchased freelander 2, 2007, with 106000 miles on the clock. Full landrover service history with mainly service B written in book. Does that cover haldex/ diff okl replacement? I've seen these cars are pretty good bar the 4wd system being service fussy. Is this something I should be worrying about and look into servicing soon.. it's engine oils and filters were done not long ago but no evidence of haldex oils done. Sorry I'm a bit clueless at the moment. Thanks

The Haldex, PTU, rear diff and gearbox are all 10 year or 150k miles according to LR, and are seldom done before then except by fastidious owners. Unfortunately these components normally fail before 10 years or 150k, most likely due to the lack of timely fluid changes.
Ideally the gearbox should have a 60k service interval. The rear diff, PTU and Haldex half that at 30k to have the best chance of lasting any decent time.
Your Haldex being a Gen 3 doesn't suffer the shudder issue like the Gen 4 does, but it still needs fluid changes to last.

Hi Judd.
Click the link and have a read, personally unless you have 100% proof that the PTU, rear diff, and Haledex oils have been changed class them has not being done, so best to do them.

Hello All,
I drive a Freelander 2.2 Diesel with Abt 100k on mileage. We diagnosed a problem with Haldex which I disconnect and driving as 2-Front wheel drive only.

Anyone with idea where I can order a new Haldex Unit in the UK?

You wouldn't want to buy a new Haldex. When I checked a while ago, LR quoted £4977 +VAT, but would give £800 for the return of the old unit, but that's still £4177 + VAT to stump up.

Better off getting it reconditioned, or repair it yourself with parts available for the task.

What systems do you have and how did you diagnose the problem with the Haldex, please explain to us, what year is your FL2 is it TD4 or SD4

Wow, that steep for sure!. I guess I. will go for a reconditioned one. I have not tried to service the older one because I couldn't get the service+repair kit in my country. So since I am in UK I will also pick that to try service first.
Thanks for advice Nodge.

It's a 2011 TD4 Diesel Manual. I used to get the cranking sounds when driving around sharp bends. Disconnecting the cable connector at the Haldex unit stops the problem.
