Decided last week I should have my 97 300tdi Discovery serviced (basic service oils filters etc.
Had her two months and running fine just occasionally she lost power when cruising at about 2,500 revs and revs counter would drop 3/ 5 hundred revs for a split second this didnt have all the time just occassionally.
You guessed it after the service the problems loads worse.
Typical so took it back after a couple of days of driving to see if it cleared up gave it good 30 mile run but still the same.
The garage said they would look they cleaned out the fuel filter and flushed somthing through to clean the injectors to see if this cured it.
But still the same.
The threads ive read seem to point to lift pump problems ???
Another thing the garage said it could be the fuel filler cap as it was damamged and may not be venting properly and this could cause a problem as there would be a vacuum in the tank which would affect the fuel going into to the engine.
They suggested trying a temporary replacement filler cap from the petrol station which I did but seemed to be worse so maybe they were on the right track ??
The garage isn't a 4x4 specialist but the guy who works there has a defender and a Freelander so I thought they would now what they are doing with it.
So what to do maybe get a proper new filler cap for a start, go to another garage who is 4x4 specialist ? (Any good ones in Warwickshire ??)
Thanks in advance
