Hi folks, new here as of today. Honoured to be amongst those in the know 🙏🏻

I’ve bought my childhood dream - a Defender 90 (2004).
The sale included no service history at all so I would like to start building this up. It’s done 168k miles.

I was thinking of leaving the car with a local Landy expert for him to take a few days to go over her, bumper to bumper, and then sit with him to understand what he thinks is good and bad.

Does this sound sensible ?

Welcome to landyzone painting by numbers classroom. My guess by your images you hail from warmer climate. Does your vehicle have MOT history or similar for the country you reside. The defender does look well cared for.

Welcome :)

While he’s looking get him to do oils while he’s under it, half price 2 for 1 and all that.

But it sounds like a plan, if he looks at it on his lunch break at mates rates. Do you know/trust him.

I’m in Surrey. The Landy is in South Africa - for now. It got a cosmetic upgrade - spray and so on quite recently which is a plus. All that’s just show, I’m keen to make sure she runs as best as poss !

Thanks @marjon

Like your thinking ! An elderly lady neighbour - a daily defender 90 driver no less - has given him a glowing endorsement so I’m calling him tomorrow to hear his story.
