serpintine belt

hi folks , can anyone please tell me the correct belt for my car disco 300tdi r reg 1998 no air con , is it err 3287 or err 5911 , cheers

Both are listed for Disco 1 from VIN number MA081992. Unless Microcat is cocked up.

the difference is diameter of alternator pulley, on later 300s it was reduced and so later belt err5911 is slightly shorter, though you regularly see the wrong belt fitted , you can tell by how easy it is to get off /on ie how far you need to pull tensioner

Ok so Microcat should maybe say ERR3287 upto MA081992 and ERR5911 after.

books used to have err3287 to one eng number err5911 after that number

Ok don't have that info. Only Microcat which is sometimes a bit hairy fairy.

you find the odd thing carrying over in manuals too,when its no longer relevant, i think a case of the compilers not having any real experience
