Hi Gang

How's the world of coiled springs? :D

Here's the thing. Our lad's thinking about a Landy of his own. Later we're going to have a proper look at a 1984 90 - you know, with screwdriver and hammer in hand! Having had a quick peek in passing it looks pretty good and hopefully will turn out as solid as the seller says it is. It's a standard diesel, taxed and mot'd and the guy is looking for a price around the £2k mark. Is this about right? If it had cart springs I'd have a better idea but to be honest am pretty much in the dark about 90s and prices seem to vary wildly. If I get some pictures later I'll upload them because that would really help wouldn't it.

Anyway, hope you don't mind me asking and if this question's been asked before then I'm sorry for being a lazy moo.

Thanks all :bounce:

If its the 2.5N/A you dont want to be paying over 1400-1500 unless its exceptional as Pikey says. Check all the footwells, riggers and rear x-member as well as chassis and bulkhead. Electric gremlins are common too.

What are the factors making you guys value it so low? I was thinking of getting an ex mod 110 (which you may have seen in several other posts), which has the same engine and I think they go for around 3k. They aren't quite as old as the 90 though. They should be totally solid though and well serviced.

[QUOTE dig deep and prod it hard.[/QUOTE]

 Too damn right I will! Got just the kit to do it with too ............ and I'm a girl!

I'm going to attempt to attach the link so you can all have a peek at the ad. Hopefully it'll work as I've never tried this before..........

Thanks everyone. It's certainly given us food for thought and I think our boy will be looking at a Tdi conversion anyway.

Won't be seeing it today either as it turns out - friends coming over this evening so it'll be tomorrow!

I paid 1400 for my 90 1985 and it has a ace chassis etc only needs small weld in one footwell bulk head great but yes electric gremlin indeed but learnin fast about electrics haha! All in all a good landy would say mint bodywork but it's extremely reliable and all main things are mint
