I've nearly finished my conversion (there's a thread on here about it) - though no where near as neat as it looks like you'll end up doing, if you hit any problems just shout, sure i can offer 'a' method of solving it :)

And my gf refuses to come out and help :(

Just finished reading yours, so how far are you with it now?
Got the cam belt done today,
Things to do now is do something with the powersteering pump
Wire her up
mount the rad etc
and bend an exhaust
hoping to have her running tommorow.... :scratching_chin:
Be good to see some pics of how you'v mounted your rad etc
And any advice with wiring!!!

Cheers
Pete

I've got the radiator in, put not the intercooler yet, also just received all the pipes i need from a great supplier on eBay.

Exhaust is near enough done too.

I hope to have it close to finished tomorrow though still got to re-wire the majority of it.

Power steering pump - take to bits, remove insides, re-build. Dr. Pepper suggested this route to me - very easy to do, took 10 minutes i think and makes life very easy.

Oh - and for the radiator - i welded some supports across the chassis then bolted the radiator / intercooler frame to this. I cut the frame down to just house the radiator.

I'll get some pics tomorrow in the day light for you

I agree, driving a series can be more fun than driving a fast car :D its very basic, I enjoy driving mine even at 50kph

ha yer, my girlfreind described going to the mcdonalds drivethrough as an adventure in the series, thats what draws me to the vehichle you can do 50kph and your not bored your just enjoying the ride, were as fast cars etc the only thing you can do to up the buzz is drive faster... which is alright but the faster you go the more you get hurt it would seem..

hi going to be doing this engine swop in my series 2a soon
just wondering where your going to mount the intercooler?
trying to find some ideas of mounting it without it being in the wing and having to cut holes in the top for vent to direct the air etc

sorry, took ages to get round to posting up pics of my radiator mounted, but now up on my 200tdi thread.

azza32 - for the intercooler - mount it in front of the radiator, if you mount it in the wing it will get coated in mud and not be at all effective

Looks tidy 83 series.

Azz you dont have to do it the same as me however I used a TD5 intercooler, it seems to fit a lot better, its much wider, in fact wider than the rad, the pipes to it stick out each side of the rad when its in place as on the TD5.
I used the disco top rad mounting plate and snotted on a couple of simple brackets to hold the intercooler, theres another couple of little brackets welded on the front panel to hold the bottom.
