Hi

I wonder if anyone out there might have a solution to this. I've just changed the head gasket on my 1968 negative earth series IIa and when I connect the battery the red charging light goes on (without even the key in the ignition) and it seems to be drainig the battery down. When I turn the ignition on the light goes out. Shut the engine down and take the key at and on it goes again. I've changed the ignition switch but it still does it!

Best Regards

Mark

Thanks Slob & Yellow Disco

I'll check the fuses and the plug on the back of the alternator. Its funny you mention the alternator cos i saw an historical thread about a similar problem on a 110 Diesal. It seemed that there might have been a fault in the alternator on the 110. I tried unplugging the two terminals on the alternator on mine but the problem was still there.

when yer oil pressure is low

or when your oil pressure monitoring system thinks its low. so a faulty sensor cud make it come on. but it always comes on when the ignition is on - but the engine aint running - as a system check.
