and shes had a her first drive! not a very long one i admit, but it was dark by the time i finished setting up the suspension on the ramp :D

Nice looking landy, are you gonna keep it original or just what ever you like the look of?
I'm hoping to get a restoration project as well so it will be ready for when I'm 17 as a few of my mates are doing the same..

going to keep it generally original, the only kind of visible modifications being things like roof light bar, snorkel and rock sliders, because theres nothing wrong with the classic shape :D

What do you reckon insurance will be like cos I'll be driving one next year, I hope...

i really dont know, im imagining a lot, so im gonna be saving and earning everything i can so i can get her on the road,

anyone got any idea of price for a 17 year old?????

been working on the suspension again tonight, no pics im afraid as not much progress,
now another problem has come up and was wondering if anyone has any ideas for me,

some of you may have noticed that i have put military shackles on the landy, now everything lines up and fits, it sits just as i want it to, but im struggling with the shocks, mainly the front ones, i had already bought standard ones, and there is no chance they are going to go on, ive looked at some options like pro comps etc,

but has anybody ever used something else, obviously i cant weld things to the chassis, i just need extended shocks, that arent at a stupid price because of my budget,

any ideas guys?

if i were you, id fit some sort of decent ani theft. im fed up of the criminal activity ive experienced in the last month! no vehicle here seems safe and we have taken to going round at obscene hours with a big bar! we shouldnt have to worry though its a discrace

hey matey at the rate your going youll be half way through yer next project by the time i get this chassis done lol ill have some more pics of mine by weekend i hope if the weather gives me chance :D

have you had any ideas towards yer front grille yet i cant wait to see what your gonna do specially with you doing such an epic job with her so far and keep dem pics comeing you know we love them :D:D:D:D:D:D

mine was 1200 first year i had a TDI. went up to £2000 come renewal for no reason.
ive since claimed for £1000ish worth of damage which isnt a lot but im not looking forward to renewal this year.

haha doubt it, your flying through yours!!

i havnt had any good ones im afraid, i had a thought of painting the original grill white and putting some of this behind it

ALUMINIUM GRILL VENTS MESH SILVER UNIVERSAL 100x33cm | eBay

one problem being that they dont sell a big enough sheet for the whole grille in one, but not sure if its mean enough, and a bit to blingy :D

and yup, hoping to sort out shocks this afternoon, came up with an idea with shocks ive found in the back of the workshop :D

so might get her out in the field

ive also galv primed the cappings, will get some pics later on

just nailed the back half chassis last nitgh bout 11 pm ( couldnt sleep) gonna try and get some blue non drip gloss for the underside of the rear tub as i can lather that stuff on thick enough to never need it doing again me idea is to get the underside done and do the outside of the thing while its on but me next stage is get the fibreglass derv tank out and rebuild its hangers and outriggers the chassis is absolutely shot through on that side

i had another idea with the front grille

cut the mesh flimsy shyte out of the centres leaveing the frame paint that black then back it up with perferated aluminium sheet should look mean as hell :cool:
