i know this should be stupid question but:

i removed the glow plugs from my 1978 diesel landy as it was not starting very well, that said it has been sitting for 8 years.

I tested then using jump leads, negative onto the body of the plug and positive on the top.

Nothing happened.

The reason i ask is that all four were the same, it is very possible that all 4 are gone but i just wanted to check if there was anything ......unusual with these before i buy more.

Many Thanks

if they are the original 2.25 engined glow plugs they are wired in series, with a ballast resistor thus each one rated at 2v I think, not 12v, so testing with 12v could 'pop' them.

Best use an ohm meter, can't think of the resistance off the top of my head, but if you get an infinite reading they are stuffed.

Thanks for that, i thought it may be something like that. I thought it strange to have all 4 shot. Ill check the resistance.
