Series 3 gearbox speedo drive removal

Hi all. Hope you are all enjoying the festivities. Just a quick one. I went to change my speedo cable today and sure enough, the cable had snapped off in the drive unit and the remains are seized into it with no spur to grab onto with a pliers. My question is, can the drive unit be removed to allow me to extract the broken cable end?

yes undo the 2 screws remove the plate then prise the speedo housing out of the output housing

Thanks Jamesmartin. I presume that it is like a range rover classic LT 230 transfer case and is held in by an O-ring?

yes plus the 2 screws

I'm also sure mine should have three but you can only access two of them to loosen/tighten it is now only fitted with two!

3 screws to hold the cable in 2 countersunk screws to hold the drive gear in place.
