series 3 doors

hi im new to this site and just bought a landrover series 3 1975 but im after some defender 90 doors A.will they fit the same B. is there a section for swaps ? as i would prefer windy windows to slidy ones and is there any mods you can do to these 2248cc petrol engines to get them faster as im 19 first landrover and its well slow compared to my beloved saxo

yer, there are, basic tuning, re boring, higher compression the posibilities with that engine are endless, and beloved saxo,u sure u want a landy then, i mean saxo thats worse than a gaylander. post for doors in the defender section mayb ?

keep yer series doors they,ll last longer.An only mek it go faster if yer can keep it steerin straight as it is

it has a k&N style filter and been told its fitted with a farley overdrive never used it dont now how to im used to been able to start mi saxo up n go but due to me hittin a kirb and destroying it my parents have put me in this but what sorta easy mods can i do for more speed could i change the box to 5 speed ? put a pressure reg on it possibly turbo it ? my normal garage dont now anything about modding landys hence am everywhere trying to get to know things just fancy being able to do 80ish on motorway and be all safe thats my aim

im guessing ya parents bought it for you mate, as you dont rearlly no what u got. its a series 3 not a saxo get that out of your head. its not designed for motorway driving. its designed for offroading, pulling trailers and lumping tools from place to place and enjoying. ya probly thinking old fart reading this, im 17 younger than u,

you could turbo it is it worth it, no. not much gain, why not do a engine swap, say get a 200tdi and take off the turbo, cus thats 2 powerfull for that box by the sounds of the way u drive, and then give me the overdrive

The only way yu will do 80 in a 2.25 Series is on the back of a tow truck being taken to the morgue .

why he needs to give me the landy and see if i can sort him out with a golf mark 1 gti

i could get it go 80 easily, just wouldnt be safe

if its a 109 he can have my disco for it !

i've not gone over 50 in my series....frightrns the **** and deafens me over 40 mph !!

tis easy mine used ta do it,dunno if it still would it aint bin on the road for two year

It's a fact that a series will teach you all the driving skills you don't have to practice so much in modern cars..like anticipatory braking etc! Bear in mind that slow as it is, a Land Rover is favourite vehicle of some remarkable people...Bryan Adams, Richard Hammond and many more!

thanks for the help and come to one conclusion its going to have to be just a toy for offroading days and greenlaning as i work 30miles from home and its just not fast enough will buy myself another saxo and keep this for playing.
also how does the overdrive work ?
and the rear door is drop down at the moment could it be an easy swap ? the canvas roof and frame is now off and my landrover 90 hardtop is on just woundering about the door the canvas top may end up on here forsale next week just want it to be something i can have fun with now it has disco steel 16inch rims and just looking for some good tyres ie (90% offroad) cheers for help
