Hi Since I reported my clutch pedal solid I have removed the gearbox, I found that the thrust bearing had seized on its shaft. I have now bought a complete clutch.
Q do I use any lubricant on the thrust bearing shaft, and what lubricant do I use on the splines.
Thanks Ian Fewtrell.

No lubricant on either.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I have always used a very thin smear of grease, wipe any excess off with rag, you just want it to be damp, makes assembly much easier.

That grease has a very good high temperature range but this tin will last you a life time and not cheap.

Personally I do not lubricate the shaft or clutch centre and have not had any issue in many years with clutch seizing on the shaft.
If you go wading a lot without fitting drain plug then leave the landrover standing it may be an issue.
Clutch plates do seize to the flywheel if left standing along time but that is normally the friction material flywheel interface.
