Hi everyone! Not too sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes!

I'm starting to build an off road trailer and i've been given an old Land Rover axle. But i'm not sure if it's a series 2 or series 3 one? See pic.

It was a right mess when i got it! Had grass growing out of it! So i have stripped it all down, and had it bead blasted. Damn thing has come up like new!:)

Anyway, i could do with knowing do the wheel bearings need greasing? and if so how? The wheels spin freely atm and are fairly quiet too. I'm not putting the diff. gears and bits back in or using the brakes. It is just a rolling axle.

Many thanks.

Pughy.

The bearings are assembled with grease and additionally lubricated with ep90 from the diff. If you're only using it as a trailer you would probably be ok with just lots of grease. It'll also stop any oil leakage from the hub. Probably worth replacing the oil seals, just to keep any dust out. And you'll need to block the hole in the drive member where the shaft fitted. And if there's no oil in the axle, paint the inside.
