Just a note to say hello.
I'm relitivly new to the landy scene, only having had my S3 since last august. Unfortunatly she has been off the road most of that time.. waiting for odds and ends to be done.
I've also just got my hands on a Disco 1, 2ltr mpi (lpg converted).. It's a good all round workhorse and covers the road duties my S3 hates!
Downside to the new truck is that my missus thinks I should sell the S3 as in her words "you dont need two landies"... hmmm.. maybe if I have three that will kill off that idea. lol.
Anyway.. its good to find the forum.. James
 
:welcome2: to the wonderful world of landys:D:D i have an S3 as a daily drive:p and of course you need 2 landys, i'm hoping to get a disco to give the s3 a bit of a rest:D

Insanity is like diarrhoea.. it runs in your genes (sorry bad joke).

At 500 quid for a fully mot'd, taxed mpi.. with little rust and with fully working lpg kit was too cheap to turn down.. And besides after the Series III it doesn't feel as slow as you would imagine! And I'm getting about 24mpg on gas at 59p a litre.. So thats about the same as 48mpg on desiel @ the current 120 a litre!

So.. why do people think Mpi's are so darn bad? Or am I missing something...

I've done the search.. and the concensus seems to be they are slow/underpowered (skin off rice pudding etc).. But is that really all of it?

I'm more worried that I might have a ticking time bomb reliability wise... I can live with slow (otherwise I wouldn't have spent the last year driving a Series 3 2.25 petrol).. oh and if I want fast I have my bikes.. even off road (My cagiva's a full on Paris Dakar bike).
