I once stripped down an XJS and put that into many boxes. I also took pics of where everything went in stages of dismantlement.

The guy at Jaguar was a very helpful and enthusiastic chap and helped me with regards to what was ok and what was on the list of 'worn'.

Thinking about it now.......... He did own a rather larger house by the time I was finished
How did that go? everything went back together ok i assume? Fun, isn't it, taking stuff apart and being able to put it back together again.

Be careful changing bearings just because they have stood for a little while the ones you buy to replace them might not be the same quality nowadays.
Some newer bearings with the same number have tapered radius on the inner race which allows the circlip to sit deeper , the output shaft on transfer case commonly has issue caused by this radius reduction.
I'm changing bearings like-for-like, so bearings i'm getting timken ones, if they are available.

Yeah. There's a certain satisfaction when everything is clean and working. Nothing quite like the feeling when everything stays on when you test it.

I started mine at the beginning of the year. Clean and working should be about 2510 by my reckoning. :D

Lol, any pics of her so far? have you atleast got yeh tool kit out? :D

I get round to most things eventually. Just last month the Mrs asked me to hang a picture. All I have left is to find a nail and hammer.

Oh and its a He. 'Henry'. :D

Oh and a tip. Dont name yours until at least the fifth month. By then it will have told you its name.

what a crock of ****e. what a crock of ****e. what a crock of ****e. what a crock of ****e. what a crock of ****e. what a crock of ****e. what a crock of ****e.

As it turns out, the one cocking parcel i received was the X member. So, i set about cutting the rotten chassis out and putting new in.
Come to fitting the X member, guess what!
IT
DOES
NOT
FECKING
FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and upon closer inspection, it's dented, welds are AWFUL, very tatty.
FOR FECKS SAKE i waited so FECKING long for
FECK
ALL

Sounds like a Britpart part
Better get customizing it to fit. I was lucky with my rear cross member. Got it from Paddocks and it fell on.

After a considerable amount of f*cking about, shouting, swearing, grinding, and welding, i got it to fit.
Had to part the chassis rails with a jack, cut the corners of the U section the X member gives you, cut down the ends of the now flaps, cut off exhaust brackets, (have a coffee break) and drill out a hole for the internal wires.
A long and arduous clusterf*** of f***ed upness, i got it to fit. I think the person who made this X member only had a 3 year old's drawing of a land rover to go off.

Ive made notes whilst working on mine. If you run our of swear words I have a few written down I made up along the way.:D

Apologies for the lack of pics recently. I got some today, welding up the chassis still. Got a new shipment of parts, i'll go in to detail tomorrow, i went straight for the outriggers ;)
I'm just uploading some pics now to photobucket. Expect them soon ;)

For god's sake, i said that, uploaded them to photobucket and never added them here! Sorry.
