Hi

I've finally disinterred my Series 2A V8 from a leaky barn where it's been buried for about 10 - 12years. It's a mess but hopefully a recoverable mess. My first issue is the engine number - the stamped number seems too short and it's possible most of the first digit missed the block!

It reads: o4133239F, with CR 8 1 3 1 above the number. The 'o' might be the bottom of a 3?

The only suffix 'F' with a CR of 8.13 I can find is the R/Rover carb model from 1970-83, but they seem to start at 35500001F, so even if the unintelligible first digit was a '3', my number would be 34133239F, too low for the R/Rover engine.

Sorry, rambled on a bit but anyone have any bright ideas?

Many thanks

Richard

341 is a RR carb number but so is 841 as fitted to P5B's...a pic would help..might have had work done and re stamped...

341 or 841 are not 8.13c and dont have suffix F...so need pic...
Hello again

OK, I've tried to take photos without much success but attached is the best I could do. Actually, having uploaded it, it's not too bad!

Many thanks

Richard

This is what my V8 number looks like...give it a squirt of brake cleaner and see if you can get a better pic..is something covering the first number?...

Quick update - while in 'storage' someone liberated assorted hoses including oil hoses for the (very old) Mocal remote oil filter. Think Automotive, manufacturers of the Mocal products have been great (the unions were a very old, strange BSF thread and the pipes had to be specially made) and two new hoses should be with me tomorrow. Once installed it will be time to turn it over on the battery for the first time in 20 odd years. Fingers crossed! Richard
