series 2a reverse light

i know there are threads on fitting reseve lights etc .
But does any one know what kind lights would have been fitted back on the early sixties Ie small spot light, square fog light type ? ?
After a period look reverse light for back of the old pickup.
Any links or pics much appreciated.
Was there ever a factory option ?

When I ran a 2A it had a Lucas "576" model fog light on the back, this was a round light. I still have a pair of 576 spots somewhere.....

I'll Google them see how big they are As didnot want ssomething too big!

These WIPAC glass ones were very much of their time, especially on Escorts and Cortinas and general aftermarket fitment. Lots on eBay and very popular on 70's series station wagons.

Had look at lucas ones and do look of that era but are quite large to be haning off the back but will no doubt light the rear view well. I'll compare to these squarer ones and then makes my choice and pays my money

I think the Lucas/Wipac ones look a bit tame on something like a Land Rover. From memory the Lucas 576 fog/spot lamps are 5 1/2" diameter. Available in pedestal mount or back fixing. Not sure if they are still made now.

I'll grab the camera and do a bit of photo shopping and see what can ome up with

Either way ill be into a fancy bracket....quick garb some stainless and the welder

I have been looking at period lights, google retro vehicle light, classic car lights
there are few places that do them, one of them out Stansted essex way. will try and find a link.

After looking at lights and bit photo shop think a lucas 576 type may be the way after all.

Its a big old motor and looking to mount light on bracket just above rear step grab handle thingy on back as pick up on couple existing crossmember to tub mount holes.

Tralling for single light now .....so a pairs no good to me.

Well finally found a single lucas spot light I liked
..don't know model no. But looks good to me.

Made a bracket and bolted on backed through tub mounts.

Mounted light to bracket and bob's your unlce.

Wired to an illuminated pull switch on dash so can be reverse or work light.

Oh and converted to a h3 50w bulb.! !

Looks the part - nice

I've got these to fit on mine (The round older looking ones)



4 for the roof rack and 1 to go in the top right hand corner of the roof for a reverse lamp.

Decent price too for £18 I think.
VWP - front lamps

very similar to the one i fitted bottom mount lucas i think, i flipped the mount so that i could simply bolt it to a crossmember/tub mounting tab and fitted a switch that was operated when i selected reverse

Nitemare that looks identical .......could not find the big flanged replacement buld for it so made a conversion plate that fits in place and holds h3 Bulb.

Will post picks of old bulb conversion plate for old old lucas spotlight owners.

i buy the original bulbs at classic car shows, i have a couple spare as i have similar period driving/foglamps on the front as well, i've had a couple of bulbs vibrate themselves to bits so it's handy having spares

it'd be nice to see a picture of your adaptor although i think there is a kit that can be bought

It's a simple laser cut plate I had made at work.

Drops into original plate of bulb flange and bulb pokes through.

Sprung clips hold on bulb flange nice and tightly.

Bulbs are £1.75 a pair delivered and E marked.
