Have started tarting up farm Land Series 2 with view to possibly selling, passed Mot with no advisories........and then noticed hole under front bump stop.........then bloody great crack around front spring chassis bush. Have cleaned up ready to weld. Will get bump stop repair patch but has anybody best idea about chassis bush. Cut tube out, remove bush and re-weld with strengthening plates? Can you buy chassis bush tube?

I would jack the chassis to close the crack up, then open a few inches of the crack with a thin slitting disc, weld that bit then do a few more inches and so on, short welds to keep heat down saves taking the buh or its tube out.
Tbh if the chassis has rotted out under the bump stop then the chassis could be in a pretty poor way.
I take it its the originall 1960 chassis?

Is the spring bush one piece or the early two smaller bushes in the one tube? if its a one piece bush then its been replaced at some time.

Whatever you do dont tell anyone who motd it!

Many thanks, chassis has been patched in a few places by me and others, but generally soundIt didn’t need an MOT but thought I would get one to be able to pass on with confidence!

Hi there and welcome

Not a nice crack as far as cracks go!! Grind it all back to shiny metal and see what's left and how thick or thin it is

I had never come across the two bush set up until I replaced the drives side rear chassis bush 7/8 yrs years back, they came out okay as I had a bushwacka tool.

All the others were single and were hammerd out with an impact tool and I made a tool up from the threaded rod from a scissor jack to press the new ones back in...
