Good day.
I am a speculant on a late series 1 88". It is registered as a 1959 "Land Rover 88 series 1" here in Sweden (as you can see its a UK import), as far as I can see the looks are all s1 but if I decode the chassinumber its got to be a series 2.

The chassinumber is 14100xxxx. Could this be some sort of crossover model or is it just a S1 body on a s2 chassis?

Help is most appreciated. Thank you
Magnus

Ok. I have googled lots of pics and found some said-to-be s1 with the same clocks. Are you sure? The vent flaps look like S1 to me?
. Is it possible to take a S2 landy with s2 bulkhead and use all the body from a S1? wings. bonnet, window etc? I understand its possible but will everything fit?
Thank you.

Looks like a late series one 88 to me,would have been built in early 58.The series 2 bulkhead has a bulge in it the same profile as the body so a straight swap is not possible. Foot pedals through the floor are very much series one.If that is the original radiator it may have a date tag in the circle next to the filler.
The series one 88 and 109 models were cross over models where the chassis and running gear were developed in readyness for the series two introduction in mid 58 along with Land Rover's new diesel engine. This engine was the reason for the extra wheelbase length from 86 and 107 inches to 88 and 109.

love the pic where the registration is blacked out on the bumper but the rather big plate on the front of the wing isn't :D

i'd go with crossover
