Series 3 Selectro Free Wheeling Hubs

I currently have selectro free wheeling hubs fitted to my series III and they have now started to leak so I get a nice black radial spray pattern on my newly painted limestone wheels.

Looking at the pdf (link) I found online showing the instillation instructions there is a gasket between the "selector" (part you turn to lock) and the main body of the hub. As this is joint is where it appears to be leaking from I thought it would be a good place to start. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement gasket?

I had a similar problem with my FWHs but it turned out that wasnt the problem. You could use the dreaded blue gunge but it may be the fact that seals further inside the hub are at fault and the oil shouldnt be getting past those. I aint no hexpert but I think FWHs work dry. Your only engaging a lock between the inner turney bit and the hub.

Sorry if thats a bit technical..............

I now you can get repair kits for the AVM's but not sure on the Selectro hubs. There is a used one on e-bay at the minute in Germany.

I will look into this, if this is the case it certainly sounds like it is likely to be the inner hub seals rather than the FWH gasket. and would also mean I do not have to dismantle the FWH.

Not much in em to be honest. Turning the dial pushes a goggy type thing in and engages the axle turney rod into the hub. A loose wound spring pulls it back out when the dial is turned back. Oil used to spray all over my wheels as well until I dove in and had a thrutch about with the big rubber seals and ickle felt things. Being a complete eejit didnt hinder me at all. Thats the good thing about tratters.

Sure its not the flange gasket? available for pennies from all lr suppliers
